IBC 2013

James Neufeld by James Neufeld

We had the great pleasure of participating in the 2013 IBC conference and exhibition in Amsterdam. This show is the second largest of it’s kind, attracting over 50,000 attendees. You can see our SAM powered Social Stream of highlights from the event here¬†http://bit.ly/1akrLrC¬†

IBC gives you a very good sense of how big the television industry really is. All signs point to a currently robust and future proof industry. However we pose a question which we think is most pertinent to the scale of the industry. “What does the future of the television indsutry look like once we can create and broadcast our own amazing content?” Obviously this is possible now on some scale. However we observe a continuous and rapid increase of UGC that rivals the quality produced by studios and television networks. The once large, barriers of entry (hardware, software and connectivity) to this industry are quickly eroding.
