Today I’m extremely pleased to announce that Mark Little has joined the SAM board of directors. Mark’s name has become synonymous with social newsgathering and I couldn’t think of anyone so uniquely suited to help advise SAM through this exciting growth phase and beyond.
Mark will be joining our current board of directors comprised of Jim Kennedy, SVP Strategy at the Associated Press, and Bruce Johnson, former Intuit Canada CEO and Edmonton super angel investor, and myself.
I first met Mark when he was just starting to scale Storyful and SAM was this itch in my mind. We spent the next few years getting to know each other at nearly every journalism conference the world over — always discussing how to solve the industry’s challenges and in turn build a company that truly matters. During those years Mark successfully lead Storyful, the world’s very first social news agency, to an exit and worked for Twitter as their VP Media Partnerships for the EMEA region.
Today SAM is humbled to power more newsroom UGC workflows than any other platform, with a user base that is rapidly growing. We’ve just started to roll out our social newswire program, our education program is well underway and our platform sees feature updates and advancements every week. Mark’s insight, guidance and passion for building the new trust economy comes at an extremely exciting time.
“I couldn’t be prouder to join the SAM board,” said Mark. “I’ve come to know James as one of the hardest working innovators in the news business, and look forward to supporting his team as they build layers of trust and value into social newsgathering.”
