Without question, embedding social media content is a new standard for any news outlet. Embedded social content has become the new way to bring in photos, videos, commentary, eye-witness reports, or political rants. Amazingly, with the amount of embedding that does go on, the actual process of embedding content remains cumbersome, finicky, and reeks havoc on load times and mobile responsiveness. If you have tried to embed multiple Tweets on a page you know what I’m talking about, and lets not even get into the pains of embedding from more than one social network (kiss your site design goodbye).
This is where SAM helps many of the world’s top publishers. We unify multiple social types into a single, streamlined, responsive embed. We also help mitigate deleted/broken links and keep you safe from those who wish to make malicious changes to the content embedded on your site. Today we’re excited to announce that our industry leading embeds have undergone a restructure and redesign to continue powering the world’s best storytellers.
Mobile First: As news readership is largely mobile based, we’ve rewritten our social media embed templates to be mobile first. This means that our embeds take full advantage of vertical displays, gesture based navigation, and responsive display sizes.
Design Refresh: The full line of SAM embed templates have received a design refresh. Each template has been designed to fit beautifully within your own articles while displaying social media content in a clear and cohesive way.
Cover cards: Several of our templates now have a cover card option – which enables you to create a clear introduction to the social media content. You can select a background photo, title, and description like the SAM embed above.
New Templates: Today we’re announcing two new embed templates: Mosaic and Liveblog. Mosaic is a great way to display a collage of content. Our Liveblog template is our most advanced embed template which, as the name suggests, is a full fledged liveblogging solution. Imagine the full power of SAM’s real-time curation and search with a live template that allows you to keep your readers up-to-date with the most recent UGC.
All current SAM customers will see these changes live now. If you’re not a SAM customer and you want to seriously up your social media embed game, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and someone from our team will be in touch.
